October Updates

| L.I. Who 5

We’re counting down the days now! Things are moving fast as we head towards L.I. Who 5 this November 10-12th, 2017. This post is filled with information for those who have already purchased their passes and some info for the few of you who haven’t. If you haven’t purchased your pass to our international gathering of Doctor Who fans, what are you waiting for? Weekend passes, single day passes, deluxe passes, and combo passes are all available online in advance. This reserves your spot in the convention and you will have access to the advanced badge pick up beginning Thursday night. This will keep the lines short. Don’t worry if you decide to show up on the day of the convention. Passes will be available at the door all three days. Convention hours are Friday 12 noon until midnight plus, Saturday 10 AM until after midnight, and Sunday 10 AM until 7 PM. Our guests appear all three convention days except Ingrid Oliver (Friday and Saturday only) or unless otherwise noted.

We’re looking for a few good Whovians! We need some volunteer help at the convention. If you want more information on how you can join us, please email us: liwhovolunteers@gmail.com. We also have a few spots remaining in our vendor hall. Inquiries about purchasing space can be directed here: vendors.liwho@gmail.com.

Advanced online sales of celebrity photo sessions have begun on our Constant Contact page. The exact times will be posted online soon. This is your way of guaranteeing your spot in a photo shoot with your favorite Doctor Who star. Don’t worry if you decide to wait. You’ll be able to purchase photo sessions on site. Remember that selfies are not permitted at the autograph tables or during special events. Using our photo studio ensures you a professional photograph by John F. Sheehan Photography that you can enjoy for years and you help support your convention.

Our two “Dinner With The Stars” are themed this year. Friday’s theme is Nerd Magic and Saturday’s theme is K9’s 40th Birthday Party! There are a limited number of seats still available to our Friday and Saturday Dinner with the Stars. At this late date we can’t guarantee you’ll sit at a table with one of the celebrities. You will be enjoying an amazing dinner prepared by the Hyatt Regency’s chef and you’ll enjoy the evening’s theme amidst the guests and your fellow Whovians.

Speaking of special events, we have another Friday bus trip! This year we’re going to the Hamptons with Michael Troughton and friends to visit Guild Hall where his father, Patrick Troughton, performed early in his career. This is a unique opportunity to visit this historic landmark for what is sure to be an emotional moment. We will also visit some highlights in the playground of the rich and famous. We will be back to the Hyatt Regency in the early afternoon. You may miss the first hour or two of Friday programming. The trip includes advanced badge pick-up and continental breakfast. Available on our Constant Contact page.

Last and certainly not least... we’ve added more guests! Actor Richard Ashton joins us. He portrayed Friday in last season’s story “Empress of Mars”. Our friends Graeme Burk, Robert Smith?, and Arnold T. Blumberg return. Peter David and Kathleen O’Shea David join us for the first time. Alisa Stern and the crew from Doctor Puppet also return. We’re proud to have them debut two new puppets including The Thirteenth Doctor! We’re also excited to have BBC graphic designer Joanna Ball join us on Saturday only for her first ever Doctor Who convention. Ms. Ball worked with Bernard Lodge creating (among other things) the open titles in the mid 70s. She’s also the designer who created the iconic Pudsey Bear for Children in Need. Also from the BBC is Doctor Who brand manager Edward Russell and Doctor Who special consultant Andrew Beech returning with screen-used props and costumes. They’ll be on display several times over the weekend. See the convention schedule for times and locations.

Make your plans to join us next year (or jump in your TARDIS and meet us there now). The dates for L.I. Who 6 are November 16-18th, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency Long Island. Remember that passes go on sale for 2018 on the Sunday of this year’s convention for the lowest price of the year. Your advanced purchase saves you money and makes the planning a little easier on day one.
